🚨 Update: Butler's Tree Service Theft Investigation 🚨

 

Following an earlier press release regarding a theft at Butler's Tree Service, which began on January 19, 2026, detectives with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office have made further progress in the investigation.

 

The initial report stated that three chainsaws, valued at approximately $3,439.00, were stolen from the business. 

Through continued investigative efforts by the Criminal Investigations Division, all three stolen chainsaws have since been recovered and returned to Butler's Tree Service.

 

As a result of the ongoing investigation:

 

â–ª Devon J. Chapman, 25, of Ville Platte, (currently incarcerated at another facility on unrelated charges), has been issued an arrest warrant for:

One (1) count of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things (Felony) - Louisiana Revised Statute 14:69-   His Bond has been set at: $25,000.00

 

â–ª Casey S. McCauley, 31, of Ville Platte, previously arrested in connection with this case, has also been charged with:

One (1) count of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things (Felony) - Louisiana Revised Statute 14:69-   His Bond has been set at: $25,000.00

 

 The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office remains committed to thoroughly investigating property crimes and holding those responsible accountable.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
