Public Safety Notice - Fraudulent Phone Calls
The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office has received reports of fraudulent calls to citizens claiming that payment will result in an offender being fitted with an ankle monitor and released. This information is false.
Official Policy:
* EPSO personnel do not initiate calls to request payments.
* No financial transactions are conducted over the phone for inmate release or monitoring.
* Any such call should be considered an attempted scam.
Recommended Action:
* Terminate the call immediately.
* Contact the Detention Center at 337-336-8687 or the Sheriff's Office at 337-363-2161 to verify legitimate information.
