RUFUS SEARILE ARRESTED IN TEXAS

On October 6th, 2025, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint from a witness in a case Searile was previously arrested for, claiming that he was receiving phone calls and text messages from people telling him that Searile was posting about him on Facebook. He said the post was saying that he needed to ask someone about a previous witness who went against him about how their life turned out. There were also Facebook posts saying he needed to change his story or he would go to jail.

La. Law states, "No person shall intimidate or impede a witness or member of his immediate family with intent to influence his testimony or his reporting of criminal conduct.

On October 7th, 2025, Searile was charged with 2 counts of Intimidating a witness in violation of L.R.S. 14:129.1

On October 19th, 2025, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office was notified that Searile had been arrested by Deer Park Police Department in Texas on intimidation charges from our office and is awaiting an extradition hearing at which time he will be turned over to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office and transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail.
