HARDY ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE!

On February 12, 2026, deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Patrol Division conducted a stop on a 
bicyclist in the Town of Basile for not having the proper lighting required to operate a bicycle on a public roadway.


The subject was identified as Early Hardy, 58, of Basile. 


During the encounter, deputies learned that Hardy had an active warrant through the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office 
Office. 


While taking Hardy into custody, deputies located a pill bottle concealed inside a gas can that Hardy was carrying. 
Inside the bottle was a plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, along with 
Several pills were identified as Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse). 
Hardy was transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail and booked on the active warrant, along with the following 
charges: 


Charges: 
• Two (2) counts- Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Felony) - La. R.S. 40:967(C) Hardy 
was also issued a citation for the bicycle lighting violation.
Bond: $_25,000.00
