NARCOTIC TRAFFIC STOP: COLIN AMARI THOMAS
On March 2nd, 2026, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Patrol Unit, while conducting patrol in the area of Grand Prairie, observed a vehicle swerving on the roadway and the vehicle also crossed the center line and the fog line twice. Agents activated the emergency light to conduct a stop near Alamo Rd. As agents approached the vehicle to make contact with the driver, agents could smell Marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Contact was made with the driver, a 17-year-old black male identified as Colin Amari Thomas. Agents advised Thomas of the odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle, and Thomas stated he had Marijuana and it was located in a small black bag under the seat. Upon completing a vehicle search, a plastic baggie was located with approximately 11.39 grams of Marijuana.
Mr. Thomas was issued a summons for 40:966C, Possession of Marijuana less than 14 grams, first offense, and a traffic citation for improper lane usage. The weight of the suspected marijuana is approximately Marijuana - 11.39 grams.
