NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE: RONALD COTY BROWN
On July 2nd, 2025, Narcotic Agents with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's while conducting criminal patrol on US Hwy 167 observed a observed a Chevrolet truck, blue in color bearing Louisiana license plate number #PP217891 come to the intersection of Acadian Drive and Highway 167. The truck then turned onto Highway 167 facing the general direction of my emergency vehicle, the driver then decided to stop on the shoulder of the highway, exit the vehicle, and manipulate an unidentified object within the bed of the truck on the driver's side. Agents also observed the 'Ville Platte' City Seal located on door of the truck. Agents made contact with the driver, a 46-year-old white male identified as Ronald Coty Brown. Agents informed Brown for the reason of the traffic stop during which time Brown verbally consent for agents to search the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle agents located 1.02 grams of a clear crystalline substance believed to be Methamphetamine in a clear baggie inside of a Camouflage backpack in the bed of the truck. Inside of the same plastic baggie was one pill identified as Buprenorphine Hydrochloride (sublingual) 8mg. A search of Brown's wallet was also conducted and located was one sealed package of Buprenorphine and Naloxone Sublingual Film 8mg/2mg.
Ronald Coty Brown was arrested and charged with La. R.S. Code 40:967 Possession of Schedule II, (2) Counts of 40:968 Possession of Schedule III Brown was transported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office for booking. The Ville Platte City vehicle towed. Note: Brown was also issued a citation for Louisiana Revised Statute 32:304 Tail lamps required.
