NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE: LATASHA MORVANT

On September 23, 2025 Narcotic agents were conducting Criminal Patrol on Veterans Memorial Hwy traveling north, when they observed the vehicle in front of them bearing Louisiana license plate 313HWF swerve over the center line and then back into her lane of travel. The vehicle then swerved onto the shoulder of the road and back into its lane at that time agents activated the emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop and observed that the vehicle did not have a working license plate light. 

Agents came into contact with driver who was a 36-year-old white female identified as Latasha Morvant and agents observed the smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle was conducted and agents located on the center console two packs of Montego Red 100's cigarette boxes both containing several hand rolled cigars with Marijuana weighting 10 grams and 2.40 grams.  At that time Deputy J. Durgin advised her of her Miranda Rights. As agents continued the search of the vehicle Latasha Morvant informed agents, she had a Marijuana grinder in her purse and a "Blunt" (hand rolled cigar with Marijuana) on the center console. Located on the front passenger seat was a blue cloth zipper pouch with a marijuana grinder, a blunt wrap pack containing a hand rolled cigar "Blunt" with 1.02 grams of Marijuana, a rolled-up dollar bill with a baggie containing .18 grams of Methamphetamine, and Montego Blue cigarette box with a cellophane containing .56 grams of Methamphetamine. Upon the completion of the vehicle search agents observed the MVI was expired 

At that time L. Morvant was placed under arrest and charged with 40:967C Possession of Methamphetamines Schedule II CDS.  Latasha Morvant was issued a traffic Citation for Improper lane Usage, Expired MVI, and License Plate Light Required and issued a Criminal Citation for possession of Schedule I under 14 grams.
