NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE: KELLY DESHOTEL ARREST
On July 25, 2025, I Narcotic Agent with Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, while conducting a criminal patrol, observed a vehicle that failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Country Lane and Cherry Street. Agents conducted a traffic stop and field interview.
Contact was made with the driver, a 26-year-old white male identified as Kelly Deshotel, and the passenger, a 19-year-old white male identified as Aiden Courville, who were both not wearing seat belts. Agents also learned that the driver, Deshotel, maintained a suspended driver's license. Agents observed various signs of Marijuana use throughout the vehicle, and agents were given voluntary permission to search the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and located on the passenger seat within a gray plastic container labeled Exotic Series Maui Wowie Sativa THC-A hemp flower was six blue round pills with imprint T 372 identified as Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine 10 mg (Schedule II Narcotic). The driver admitted that the Amphetamine was his alone and that Courville had no knowledge of the Amphetamine.
Kelly Deshotel was arrested and charged with (1 Count of 40:967C Possession of Schedule II CDS (Amphetamine) Felony. Deshotel was also issued a summons for No Seat Belt, Driving Under Suspension, and Failure to Stop at an intersection. Deshotel's vehicle was also towed.
