~NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE~ ERIC NEAL GAUTREAUX
On April 15, 2025, Narcotic Agents with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, while conducting criminal patrol within the city limits of Mamou, observed a white male on a bicycle traveling west on Main Street in Mamou in the middle of the roadway. The subject had given a false name to agents and during a pat search, agents located in the subject's right side change pocket (2) pieces of plastic, one of the plastics contained methamphetamines and the other contained, through field testing, Heroin/Fentanyl mixed together. When agents attempted to place the subject in restraints, the subject ran from the agents. Through interviews with the public within the area of the incident, agents learned that the subject, who was identified as a 38-year-old white male who was identified as Eric Neal Gautreaux. Agents also learned Gautreaux had entered a residence located at 412 East Street in Mamou. Agents made contact with the owner, who gave permission and stated he did not want Gautreaux within his residence. Agents attempted to enter the home with permission from the homeowner, but the door was locked, and Gautreaux had barricaded himself within the residence. Upon agents' making entry into the residence, Gautreaux was located in the back bedroom of the residence and was attempting to inject illegal narcotics through a syringe. Agents gained control of Gautreaux and detained him.
Eric Neal Gautreaux was arrested and charged with (1) Count of 14.108B Resisting an Officer by Refusing to Identify, (1) Count 14:108.1 Flight from an Officer, (1) Count 14:100.1 Obstructing Public Passages, (1) 40:966C Possession of Heroin.
