NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE: DUREY McCOY
On October 14, 2025, Narcotic Agents observed a vehicle bearing the Louisiana license plate 598HCH, in which the display of the license plate was improperly displayed in a manner that obstructs the plate from being visibly seen. Agents activated the emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle was traveling East on Lincoln Street. Once at the intersection of Lincoln and Latour, the vehicle conducted an improper turn as it did not maintain its lane of travel while turning. Once stopped, agents made contact with the driver, a 38-year-old black female identified as Laqunana Leday, and the passenger, a 46-year-old black male identified as Durey McCoy. Upon agents having both driver and passenger exit the vehicle, a pat search was conducted for weapons. During the pat search agent located a set of brass knuckles in the right front pocket of the passenger Durey. Durey was advised of his rights and arrested for possession of a weapon. Durey was transported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Correctional Center. At some point during the search, Correctional Officers located Fentanyl and Methamphetamines.
Durey McCoy was arrested and charged with the following:
(1) 1 count 40:967C Possession of Schedule II Fentanyl
(2) 1 count 40:967C Possession of Methamphetamines
(3) 1 count 14:130.1 Obstruction of Justice
(4) 1 count 14:402 Taking Contraband into a Penal Institution
