NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE: DARREL WILSON

On October 23, 2025, Narcotic Agents with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office assigned to the Criminal Patrol / Narcotics Division were patrolling the Ville Platte area, specifically 601 North Coreil Street, Ville Platte, Louisiana 70586. While patrolling the area, agents observed a black male conducting what appeared to be a narcotic buy at the residence of 601 N Coreil Ville Platte, Louisiana 70586.  Agents observed the male walk to the front door and made contact with a male at the front door, identified as James Miller, who conducted a hand-to-hand exchange. The male then walked across the curtilage of the residence and walked in the middle of the roadway on Wilson Street. Because the black male subject was walking in the middle of the roadway, agents conducted a traffic stop due to the offense. Upon making contact with the 60-year-old black man, who was identified as Darrel Wilson.  Initially, the subject provided a false name, being Darrel Russel, with a DOB of October 28, 1965.  A weapons pat down was conducted by agents in which was negative. Darrel Wilson was asked if I could empty his pockets, to which he stated yes, and agents located 0.63 grams of Crack Cocaine.  

Darrel Wilson was arrested and charged with: 

La Rs 14:108 Resisting an Officer by Failing to identify 
La Rs 40:967 C Possession of Schedule II Narcotics (Crack Cocaine) 
La Rs 14:100.1 Obstruction of Public Passage
