NARCOTIC ARREST: WILBUR REED
On February 8th, 2026, while patrolling the Grand Prairie area, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Patrol observed a vehicle with loud modified exhaust.
Agents initiated the emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop near the intersection of PA Road and Grand Prairie Road. Upon agents approaching the vehicle, the odor of alcohol was present and emitting from the passenger side. Agents made contact with the driver, a 67-year-old white male who was identified as Wilbur Reed. Reed was ordered to step out of the vehicle. Once Reed exited the vehicle, agents conducted a field interview with Reed. Reed informed agents that he consumed alcohol at a Super Bowl party with friends. Agents observed Reed fidgeting and reaching into his pockets. At this time, agents conducted a pat search for weapons and officer safety, and when asked if there were any weapons in the vehicle, Reed stated there were none. Reed then gave agents verbal consent to search the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, agents located a clear plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine in the center console. Mr. Reed was then placed in cuffs and advised of his Miranda Rights, which he understood. Agents also located a blunt, "Marijuana cigarette," and a Benelli 12-gauge shotgun located in the rear seat of the vehicle. Also, a large amount of U.S. Currency in multiple denominations was located within Mr. Reed's wallet and center console, as well as inside Mr. Reed's front left and right pockets. Due to the multiple denominations and large amount of U.S currency located and it being consistent with the purchase and sale of illegal narcotics, the currency was seized. Mr. Reed's vehicle was towed incident to arrest, and Mr. Reed was transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail.
Weights of suspected narcotics and total amount of U.S. currency located are as follows:
Suspected Cocaine- 0.63 grams
suspected marijuana- 0.78 grams
Total amount of U.S. currency- $822
Mr. Reed was arrested and charged with the following:
40:967C Possession of Schedule two narcotics (Cocaine)
14:95E Possession of a Firearm while in the presence of CDS
40:1041 Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses.
Mr. Reed was also issued a Misdemeanor summons for suspected marijuana and a traffic citation for the modified exhaust.
