Date Posted: 03/13/2026

On March 6, 2026, Narcotic Agents with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office assigned to Criminal Patrol / Narcotics Division, were patrolling the Belaire Cove area and observed a vehicle drive left of center on the Belaire Cove Road.   Agents activated the emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop, in which the vehicle stopped along the roadway in front of the residence at 570 Belaire Cove Road.   Upon agents making contact with the driver, a 52-year-old white male identified as Clint Lafleur.  When Lafleur was instructed to provide a valid driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance, Lafleur stated to the agents that his driver's license was suspended, that the vehicle belonged to a friend, and that he maintained no insurance.  While agents were confirming the license and insurance information through dispatch, the agent also learned Lafleur maintained an outstanding warrant for St. Landry Parish.  Agents, when informing Lafleur of the warrant, Lafleur immediately began to resist the agents.   Upon agents utilizing less-than-lethal measures, Lafleur was detained and placed in hand restraints.   Upon agents conducting a search of Lafleur, agents located a small amount of methamphetamine.  The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Fabian Fontenot, who had a warrant for the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office.
