NARCOTIC ARREST: CODIE JACKSON ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II CDS (COCAINE)

On January 29, 2026, I, Narcotic Agents with Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office assigned to Criminal Patrol / Narcotics Division, observed a vehicle disobey a stop sign at SW Railroad and Hickory. Agents activated the emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop.  The agent approached the vehicle and made contact with a 45-year-old black male who was identified as Codie Cavinarr Jackson.  At this time, agents could smell the odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle.   Agents advised Jackson of the reason for the traffic stop. Codie Jackson was instructed to provide his driver's license and proof of insurance, as his driver's license was suspended.  Upon the completion of the pat search of Jackson, the driver, Codie Jackson, gave verbal consent to search his person and his vehicle.  

A search of the vehicle was conducted, and the following was located: 

·     Located on the floorboard on the driver's side of the vehicle was an open container of alcohol. 

·     Located in the cup holder adjacent to the center console was a straw containing narcotic residue

·     Located in the center console area adjacent to the gear shift were two small black tinted baggies, one containing .40 grams of Cocaine and the other containing Cocaine residue. 

Codie Jackson was arrested and charged with the following: 

(1)   Count of La. RS 40:967c Possession of Schedule II CDS (Cocaine)

Codie Jackson was given a traffic summons for Open Container, Disobeying a Stop, and Driving Under Suspension.
