MEDIA RELEASE: SEARILE AND THOMAS
On September 5, 2025, Deputies responded to the 1500 block of Fuselier Rd in reference to a complaint of trespassing on the Thomas property, along with several subjects surrounding the suspect (Rufus Searile). Upon arrival, Deputies questioned the suspect Rufus Searile, and he denied that he was in fact trespassing and that he never left the roadway.
Upon contact with Rufus Searile, Searile accused the Thomas' of impeding his travel. This incident is under investigation, and if a criminal act is discovered, charges will be filed against either party. At no time did the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office file for an arrest warrant for Mr. Searile. If a criminal act is discovered, citations will be issued to either party that committed a criminal act.
