ELIZABETH SERIE ARRESTED FROM FRAUD!

Date Posted: 05/15/2026

On May 13, 2026, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division received multiple
complaints in reference to theft by fraud.

The complaints included allegations that several individuals donated money to a female subject identified as
Elizabeth Serie.

Serie claimed to be the mother of a recently deceased juvenile in Ville Platte and alleged that the funds being
collected would be used to assist the family with funeral expenses and other related costs in their time of
need.

Detectives also learned that the deceased juvenile's grandmother had previously filed a report with the Ville
Platte Police Department alleges that donations were being collected without the family's permission.
The money was not being turned over to the family.

As the investigation progressed, detectives contacted Serie, who provided them with a notebook listing donor
names and donation amounts. Based on the information gathered, detectives determined that approximately
$1,500 had been collected. Investigators further learned that only a small portion of the money had actually
been used toward funeral expenses, while the remaining funds were reportedly used for personal expenses.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional victims have continued coming forward, increasing the
total reported loss amount. Additional charges are expected.

On May 14, 2026, Elizabeth Serie was arrested without incident and booked into the Evangeline Parish
Detention Center.

As always, Sheriff Charles R. Guillory and the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office encourage anyone with information regarding criminal activity to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 337-363-2161 or submit a tip through the agency's website at www.evangelineparishsheriff.org.
