CRIMIINAL INVESTIGATION ARREST: DARRON J JARREAU

     On January 19, 2026, deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Patrol Division responded to a report of shots fired at a residence located in the 2000 block of St. Julien Road.

 

Upon arrival, deputies secured the scene and initiated a preliminary investigation.

 Information gathered at the scene was forwarded to detectives with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division, who subsequently assumed the investigation.

 

Detectives began conducting interviews with the victims and reviewing residential surveillance footage.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the incident stemmed from an ongoing property dispute and was one of several prior incidents involving the victims and suspect.

As a result of the investigation, the suspect was identified as 65-year-old Darron John Jarreau.

Based on the evidence obtained, detectives secured multiple arrest warrants for Jarreau.

On January 20, 2026, Jarreau was arrested at his residence in Pointe Coupee Parish and transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail. He was booked on the following charges:

Two (2) counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder (Felony) - Louisiana Revised Statute 14:30.1(A)(1)
One (1) count of Criminal Trespass (Misdemeanor) - Louisiana Revised Statute 14:63
One (1) count of Criminal Damage to Property (Misdemeanor) - Louisiana Revised Statute 14:56
