On the 16th of August 2023 at 5:27pm the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department, received a call of a motor vehicle accident on Tiger Lane. Upon arrival deputies discovered the vehicle had rolled over several times and the driver was ejected. Acadian Ambulance arrived on scene and requested the coroner.  The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene. An accident investigation was completed and it was determined the vehicle was heading north bound on Tiger Lane. The vehicle entered the ditch on the right side for unknown reasons and traveled a distance. The vehicle then struck a culvert and reentered the road. The truck then rolled over on its side several times and the driver was ejected. Standard toxicology samples were submitted.

The driver of the truck was identified as

Jarred S. Matte

38-year-old of Ville Platte.
