On May 2, 2022, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to Harrison Rd. between Tate Cove Rd, and the Whiteville Rd. in reference to a theft. The victim, a local farmer in Evangeline Parish, reported that an unknown suspect when to his diesel powered water well on multiple occasions and had stolen approximately 600 gallons of farm diesel from his 2,000 gallon fuel tank. During one of the thefts, the suspect had also stolen two Die Hard car batteries. During the investigation, Detectives were able to identify the suspect (Cameron Lane Leger) who resides in the Tate Cove area. Leger was subsequently apprehended and charged with felony theft and trespassing. He is currently being held with a $27,500.00 bond at the Evangeline Parish Jail.
