Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office releases the following:

A much-needed added member to Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Division strikes again. K9 (Diego) is his name and he has been making waves throughout the Parish since hitting the streets with his handler Deputy Mathew Willis.

Late Tuesday night, October 20, 2020 at approximately 11:20 p.m., Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Patrol Deputy observed a blue and silver pickup turn out in front of him. The vehicle was identified as a 1994 blue GMC pickup bearing Louisiana license plate number C651005. The vehicle check revealed the owner to be Lori Elizabeth Guillory of Ville Platte. She was also identified as the driver of the vehicle at the time.

During the stop the Deputy learned the vehicle was uninsured, and the driver had active warrants with the Sheriff's Office, in which she was immediately detained and arrested.  EPSO K9 (Diego) conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle, and returned a positive alert to his handler leading to a probable cause search of the vehicle. Once vehicle search was completed two (2) small clear plastic bags containing a crystal-like rock substance believed to be Methamphetamine was located, confiscated and stored as Evidence at Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office.

Upon completion of the traffic stop the Deputy had the vehicle impounded and held for no insurance. The driver Lori Elizabeth Guillory was arrested and booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on the charges of Possession of Schedule II CDS (Methamphetamine) and No Insurance. Awaiting bond to be set by 13th Judicial District Judge Chuck West.
