On June 22, 2024, Narcotic Agents while conducting criminal patrol in the town of Mamou, observed a vehicle with Louisiana License Plate 474FPP conduct a left-hand turn from 6th Street onto Main Street without using a signal before turning, and the vehicle had a driver's side break light out.  Upon the driver turning onto Main Street, the vehicle stopped in the lane of travel with a window down speaking to an individual along the side of the road.  Agents activated the emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop.

Agents made contact with the driver who was identified as Branson Adam Johnson.   Johnson was advised of the reason for the traffic stop and instructed to provide his license, insurance, and vehicle registration.  Johnson stated he did not have any form of identification on hand at the time and could not locate his insurance information.  Through NCIC agents learned Johnson had only secured an Identification Card.   Agents could also smell a strong odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle. When asked if there was any marijuana in the vehicle, Johnson stated no.  Johnson was instructed to exit the vehicle and he was patted down for weapons.  When asked what items were located in his pockets, he advised that I could remove the contents from his pockets.  Johnson then advised he had Marijuana in the center console.  Upon a search of the vehicle, agents located 10 grams of marijuana in the console of the vehicle.  Johnson was issued traffic citations for his traffic-related offenses along with a criminal citation for his Possession of Marijuana under 14 grams.
