Assault at Blue Junction Leaves One Injured

Sheriff Eddie Soileau, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office has released the following:

On Sunday, May 31, 2020 at approximately 1900 hours Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched out to 3388 Chataignier Road (Blue Junction Convenience Store) in reference to a recovered All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Side by Side.

The initial investigation by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Deputies revealed that the side by side had been stolen from Flat Town Farm Supply in Ville Platte sometime before sunrise. A black male identified as Michael N. Arvie was in possession of the side by side and had apparently stopped for gas at the store.

Prior to Deputies arrival, three (3) unidentified white males arrived on scene to confront Arvie about the stolen side by side. The males were later identified as Terald Jude Vidrine, Ryan Vidrine, and Lance Vidrine. Ryan Vidrine was said to be the side by side's owner. After further investigations, through eyewitnesses account, 2 of the 3 men entered the store identified Arvie and commence to assaulting him until he was nearly unconscious. Arvie was examined by Acadian Ambulance and then immediately transported to Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas, LA for a further examination. Arvie sustained injury to his left eye.  

Affidavits and Warrants of Arrest were submitted to 13th District Judicial Judge Chuck West and signed. Terald and Ryan Vidrine were both charged with 2nd Degree Battery. Bonds were set at $35,000.00 each. Michael N. Arvie was charged with Possession of Stolen Property. Arvie's bond was set at $25,000.00, and he is still currently at large. Earlier this morning, Terald and Ryan Vidrine surrendered peacefully to proper authorities. Both subjects were booked on charges and post bail.
