~ARREST BRIEFING~ CHRISTOPHER DUPLECHAIN

05/04/2023

On April 9 2023, Louisiana Department of Children and family services (DCFS) investigators brought information to the attention of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Office Criminal Investigations Division that they were investigating a case of possible abuse within a family home. Detectives, along with DCFS investigators, and Hearts of Hope Child Advocacy Center, worked together on many facets of this investigation to determine if a crime had been committed.

Upon completion of the investigation by Detectives, it was determined the father, Christopher Duplechain W/M DOB: 11-02-1971 of Basile struck his 14-year-old daughter causing multiple injuries that required medical attention. They also determined that this incident was the culmination of a pattern of abuse over time and it ended with this incident that opened the investigation by DCFS.

With that information secured, a warrant was requested and signed for the arrest of Christopher Duplechain for the crime of Domestic Abuse Battery. He was taken into custody without incident on April 28, 2023 and remains incarcerated in the Evangeline Parish Correctional Center awaiting a Gwen's law hearing.

As always, Sheriff Charles R. Guillory and the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office is seeking information on criminal activity and urges the public to contact their Investigation Department via phone at 337-363-2161 or through the agency's website at www.evangelineparishsheriff.org.  Any person/s reporting information will remain anonymous.
