EVANGELINE PARISH SO AND MAMOU PD TEAM UP!

Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office releases the following: 

On the 29th of August 2022 the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Department Narcotics Unit along with the Ville Platte Police Department, were conducting a security check at Ville Platte High school. Agents noticed a truck parked in front of the school, with two occupants who exited the truck and kept walking around. Agents watched them for a while then approached them at the truck. Agents then saw illegal narcotics in the truck. Both subjects were juveniles, who were issued citations and released to their parents. 

On the 30th of August 2022 A joint operation between the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Department Narcotics Unit and the Mamou Police Department, led to a search warrant being conducted at a residence located 1101 Railroad Avenue in Mamou. The search warrant was the result of weeks of surveillance and investigation. Narcotic Agents and Police Officers entered the residence and located a small amount of narcotics. Agents then searched a truck under the carport, and found a large amount of illegal narcotics. This has led to one arrest at this time, the investigation continues and more arrest may be possible.

Possession with intent to distribute Crack Cocaine over 17 grams

Possession of Fentanyl with intent to distribute over 33 grams

Possession codeine with intent to distribute

Possession with intent to distribute Marijuana over 8 pounds

Possession of narcotics in a school zone. 

Estimated street value $ 10,000.00

ALL SUSPECTS ARE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
