EVANGELINE PARISH SHERIFF DEPUTIES ARRESTED!

06/22/2022

During the month of May, 2022, Investigators with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office opened an investigation in reference to drugs and contraband being introduced into the Parish Jail.  During the investigation, it was discovered that multiple Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Deputies were utilizing outside contacts in order to have drugs and contraband delivered to the outside grounds of the jail during the night time and early morning hours. Those items were later brought into the facility by correction deputies.  After obtaining multiple cell phones that were confiscated from inside the jail, investigators were able to link jail deputies being involved in orchestrating multiple transactions with inmates and providing them with drugs and other items considered to be contraband.  So far, two deputies have been arrested for Malfeasance in Office, Abuse of Office, Taking Contraband into a Penal Facility, and Criminal Conspiracy.  The investigation is still pending and more arrest are to come.
