School Safety Meeting

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office and the Evangeline Parish School Board met on Thursday, June 9, 2022, to discuss School Safety for the upcoming school year.

Sheriff Charles Guillory met with Evangeline Parish School Board Superintendent Mr. Darwin Lazard, along with Mr. Johnny Deshotel, School Board Member Arthur Savoy, and Mr. Tony Bertrand. Also present were Evangeline Parish Sheriff Chief Deputy Major Scott Fontenot, Capt. Joshua Lafleur, and Capt. Luke Fontenot.

Many items were discussed such as:

1. Funneling everyone to one entry point

2. More fencing

3. Adequate camera systems around the schools

4. Maps of all the schools for Law Enforcement

5. School security and/or Resource Officers

6. Alert system to notify Law Enforcement

7. Lockdown rooms

8. Loud Audible system for each of the schools

Evangeline Parish Sheriff Charles R. Guillory and Superintendent Mr. Darwin Lazard have an open line of communication concerning school safety and partnering to make these efforts a success. The agencies will meet again before the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.
