On December 14, 2021, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 3200 Blk. of Heritage Rd. in reference to multiple thefts that took place at a residence located there.  The victim reported that a known suspect entered a residence belonging to a deceased uncle without permission and took a number of appliances, furniture, tools and electronics.  The suspect (Patrick Wayne Bergeron) obtained the keys for the residence, posed as a relative of the homeowner, told others that the residence was for his uncle, and it was currently being foreclosed.  Bergeron was later arrested for two counts of simple burglary, felony theft, and criminal trespassing.  He is currently being held in the Evangeline Parish Jail with a $67,500.00 bond.
