Sheriff Charles R. Guillory of The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office releases the following:

 

On the date of May 13th, 2022 at approximately 3:00pm-  The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics K-9 Unit conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck, in the Chataignier area. 

Upon approaching the vehicle, contact was made with the driver, who displayed behaviors that were indicative to the Narcotics Agents as being suspicious and abnormally nervous. Thus, leading the Agents to conduct a roadside interview and ultimately obtain permission, from the driver, to search the vehicle.

Once Agents searched the vehicle, they located what is believed to be suspected methamphetamine, which led to the following arrest:

 

Chad A. Richard

896 Mahaw Lane

Branch, LA. 70516

W/M Age 54

 

He was booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail and charged with: 

L.A. R.S. 40:967.C-  Possession of CDS Schedule II                          ( Methamphetamine < 4 grams )

Chad was also issued a traffic citation

 

 

Also on May 13th, 2022 at approximately 5:30pm-  The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit conducted a traffic stop on a white sedan, in the Chataignier area.

Upon approaching the vehicle and speaking with the male driver, the Agent observed the driver exhibiting nervous behavior such as: visibly shaking, rapidly patting his legs and rocking in a back and forth motion. This behavior led to K-9 Diego being deployed to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. Once deployed, K-9 Diego indicated a positive alert to the presence of narcotics, around the driver's side door of the vehicle.

Agents then conducted a search of the vehicle and located what is believed to be suspected Fentanyl. This led to the following arrest:

W/M Age 49

He was booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail and charged with: 

L.A. R.S. 40:967A-  Possession with Intent To Distribute Fentanyl        ( 5.4 grams )         

 

 

On the date of May 16th, 2022-  At approximately 1:00am    The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit, along with the Patrol Division executed a Search Warrant at a residence in the Chataignier area.

Agents entered the residence around the time of 1:20am. Immediately upon the Agents & Deputies entering the residence, they located and detained four people without incident. Agents then conducted a search of the residence and located several different types of suspected illegal narcotics. This Search Warrant produced the following arrests and charges:

           5507 HWY 95

          Chataignier, LA. 70584

          W/F Age 61

She was booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail and charged with: 

L.A. R.S. 40:967.C- Possession of CDS schedule II (Oxycodone- 30 grams )

L.A. R.S.40:967A- Possession w/ Intent To Distribute CDS Schedule II ( Methamphetamine-  10 grams )

L.A. R.S. 40:969- Possession of CDS Schedule IV ( Alprazolam- .2 grams )

L.A. R.S. 40:969- Possession of CDS Schedule IV ( Alprazolam- .5 grams )

L.A. R.S  40:966.C- Possession of CDS Schedule I  ( Heroin )

L.A. R.S  40:966.C- Possession of CDS Schedule I  ( Fentanyl )

L.A. R.S.40:967-    Schedule II - Prohibited Acts ( Hydrocodone )

              W/M Age 28

L.A. R.S  40:966.C- Possession of CDS Schedule I  ( Fentanyl )

He also has an outstanding warrant for St. Landry Parish
