On the 25th of April 2021, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a car on Highway 190 in Basile. When the Deputies approached the driver to explain the reason for the traffic stop, they noticed an overwhelming smell of marijuana coming from the car. They requested permission to search and found illegal narcotics in the car.

He was cited for Possession of Marijuana and

was arrested for 6 outstanding warrants.

 

 

Also, on the 25th of April, Deputies conducted another traffic stop in the Basile area. Upon Deputies making contact with the occupants in the car, they conducted an interview with them. Deputies became suspicious of the occupants' behavior and actions and ultimately requested permission to search the vehicle, which was granted. This led to the following actions.

He was cited for traffic violations, Possession of Marijuana, and was released.

 

 

 

Also on the 25th of April, 2021 Deputies conducted another traffic stop in the Basile area. Upon approaching the car, Deputies observed a  handgun at the feet of the passenger, with an extended magazine. Deputies immediately removed both occupants for safety reasons. While speaking to the occupants, Deputies became aware that there were narcotics in the car. Deputies then searched the car and recovered 29 individual bags of Marijuana packaged for sale. The passenger from Mississippi, a juvenile, was released to his parents.

On the 26th of April 2021, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a car on West Main St. in Ville Platte, for a traffic violation. When Deputies approached the car, they could smell a strong chemical odor which they identified to be PCP.

Deputies then conducted a search of the car which led to the following actions-

Possession of Crack Cocaine

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Possession of PCP

Obstruction of Justice
